On November 11, 1918, at 5:00 am the Allied and German delegates signed an armistice on terms made up by the Allies, at 11:00 the same morning hostilities on the western front came to an end. The end of the war on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. The Germans had surrendered.
