In “Common Sense,” Thomas Paine used several arguments to convince his readers of the need to rebel against English rule. Talks of reconciliation were simply frustrating at that point – he felt the colonies had already lost so many that revolts would only follow, and then revolution anyway. He felt that it was no matter to him, and it shouldn’t be to anyone, the amount that they suffered from here in. The final result would be much more rewarding.
