Due to the racial issues that took place in Birmingham Alabama in 1963 the “Public Statement by eight Alabama ClergyMen” was written in response to demonstrations led in part by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.(carpenter at al 631). The eight Clergymen also stated their names, religious rankings, and education within in the public statement. (carpenter at al 631).
