For assignment 4 I chose Sandro Botticelli’s painting The Birth of Venus and Fra Angelico’s painting Coronation of the Virgin. the movement of the flowers in the air, and the movement of Venus’s hair to express that Venus is moving towards the land. On the other hand, in the Coronation of the Virgin everything and everybody is rather still. There are no moving lines in this painting. Angelico uses the brightness of the light behind the two in the middle to point out that the coronation is taking place in that area.
