Philip Zimbardo, a Professor of Psychology, was born in the South Bronx ghetto of New
York. He went into the “Ivory League,” as his mother used to call it when he became the
first member of his family to attend college. He now has authored more then 200
professional articles, chapters, and dozens of trade and text books, which have had an
influence on many people. One of the topics that Zimbardo studied was shyness.
