…showed last 75 words of 1848 total…higher morale. This showed itself as a reorganised fighting force, the New Model Army. At Naseby this army finally put down any hopes of a royalist victory. It was at this battle that the major Royalist army was defeated and victory was secured. It said to be 'a sure sign that the provential hand of God was with Parliament.' With the surrender of Oxford, the royalist headquarters, in 1646 the first civil war had been won.
