"Results of a Disguise"
In William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, many
relationships are faked or destroyed for and by the
protagonists, and as a result some of the relationships
are humorous. The use of disguise causes deception and
misunderstanding which leads to love where it is not
meant to be. Trickery leads the characters into
inescapable traps, which causes chaos with their
emotions, and finally pure physical attraction and not
true love lead some characters

and problems that
occured, but along with the problems, we as an audience
were able to view the humor in it. The reality is, if
Viola had not dressed up as a man, Olivia would have
never fallen in love. Viola would also never be
involved in a fight with Andrew causing the arrest of
Antonio. I hope that the 2 examples above has explained
how disguise encompasses the themes of appearance,
reality, and mistaken identity.
