Plan
I have to investigate the factors that affect a chemical reaction:
Calcium Carbonate + Hydrochloric Acid
Calcium Chloride + Carbon Dioxide
The easiest way to determine a change in the reaction is how much carbon dioxide is given off during the reaction.
The variables that affect this reaction are:
·Surface Area
·Catalyst
·Concentration of Hydrochloric Acid
·Temperature

you should be able to tell this method slightly differs to my proposed method in the Plan. Instead of using a Gas Syringe I used a Measuring Cylinder to measure the amount of carbon dioxide that was being given off, simply because the school has limited resources. This won't have affected the fairness of the test as both apparatus do the same job, although, the gas syringe is slightly more accurate and easier to read.
