Whether it’s in regards to economy, trade, or political ideals, there had always been a clear distinction between Federalists and Democratic-Republicans. It was very rare for anyone who was strictly one or the other to cross over on any opinion, yet Jefferson managed to on most. This shows that Thomas Jefferson, during his reign as the third president of the United States, managed to “out-federalize the federalists.”
