In Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, there are many controversies over religion and friendship, but the idea of the play that interested me the most was the role of women. I did not enjoy it as much as the other plays I have read, but I did enjoy getting a good laugh at the men with Portia and Nerissa at the end. I think that the heroes of this play are not the males, but the females and that will make for an interesting play any day.
