The Relationship Between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth
I am going to study the relationship of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth throughout the
play, and how it changes as the play continues. I feel that the crucial time for the
survival of their relationship was between Macbeth’s first meeting with the witches
and the murder of Duncan. After that point, the damage to their originally close
partnership had, in my opinion, already been committed.

By Lady Macbeth’s death it is clear that their relationship had been consumed by
Macbeths greed, and could probably not have survived had Lady Macbeth lived. It
seems that their relationship was not as strong as it first seemed. Having said that it is
unlikely that any relationship could survive with the guilt of so many murders and the
obsession with power.
