In the book The Christmas Carol, Dickens describes the Ghost of Christmas
Past as human memories. Some examples are that the spirit looked like a
child yet he looked like an old man. Dickens described the ghost as having a
non-wrinkled, young face, but having long, white hair like an old man. The
child represents Scrooge remembering the memories of his childhood and
the old man represents Scrooge, now an old man, remembering his childhood

them. Another thing Dickens describes about the
ghost is that different parts of his body at time to time fade or disappear
and then come back again later. This symbolizes how memories can come and
go. The last thing described was that the ghost had a stream of light coming
out of the top of his head. This signifies Scrooge is remembering all the
memories that he is shown.
