Welfare began as a system to help families in distress, but has evolved into an instrument of destruction of the family unit. In the mid 1960’s President Lyndon B. Johnson introduced “The Great Society” welfare act to the nation. The bureaucracy that ensued left the nation disenchanted and the poor in a hopeless situation. The effects of the government's intervention created a breakdown in society.

The idea of welfare seemed like a good idea with a noble goal, but the means of reaching the goal was flawed. The decades of damage inflicted on our nation by the welfare system can never be erased. The time has come to start repairing the damage caused by the welfare system.
