The Crusades were a series of “holy wars.” They began over religious conflicts between the Muslim Turks and the Christian Europeans. The Crusades were mainly fought over land. Yet, those who fought found personal reasons, such as wealth, fame, and honor. In 1071 the Muslim Turks conquered Palestine, now Israel, and began to attack the Christians.
