Outside Reading 1. Mila 18 is set in the late 1930’s into the 1940’s in Warsaw Poland. Most of the main characters in the novel are Jewish since it takes place during the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. Uris has an attention to detail which makes this book on in which keeps the reader on the edge of their seats waiting to see what is going to happen next. Not only is the quality of the writing excellent, but it also conveys a message, one which shows how evil bigotry is, one which will teach high school students many different lessons in the importance of the acceptance11/18/2002 of others.
