Serendipity Serendipity by definition means “ the faculty of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for ”(Webster’s 1074). In other words serendipity means discovering things by accident. The word serendipity was coined by English writer, connoisseur, and collector, Horace Walpole in a letter to his friend, Sir Horace Mann in 1754. We cannot conceive what advances the future may bring-a cure for AIDS? Ending world hunger? But what we can be sure of is that accidents will continue to happen and, with human minds more prepared than ever before, we can expect these accidents to turn into wonderful discoveries, marvelous beyond our imagination, through serendipity.
