The topic I am currently researching the degree of importance small states play in the Electoral College. By using past electoral college returns, I hope to find patterns on how vital (or non-vital) the role of small states are in electing our President. I will examine to what extent small states band together and vote for the same candidate. If they do band together, is it intentionally done in order to pull more political weight

differences in the Electoral College vote returns versus the popular vote returns. I do realize that there has only been one election where the Electoral College has not chosen the candidate who won the popular vote, but that fact is inconsequential to my paper. The reason for comparing the percentages is to show that the voters in small states really don’t have as much voting power as those in large states do
