Were it not for Iago’s evil actions, the feeling of tragedy and loss that results from the death of his naïve and unknowing accomplices would not have had such an effect on the reader. Had their deaths not been at the hand of such a despicable character, the outcome would not have been severe enough for the tragedy to be as melancholy as it turned out to be.
