After reading Oliver Twist, I have some opinion on it: · Dickens make me feel that he is trying to create a very dark atmosphere and the whole novel is very gloomy and claustrophobic. …showed last 75 words of 348 total…his life. He never had to change (bad). The lack of change actually saved him from despair. To me Oliver Twist is a progress. I would not call it a heroes journey, because in a progress the main character (Oliver) is not proactive and not developed enough to be a hero. I suggest that it might be a coming of age story, but Oliver really matures very little and hardly grows up throughout the book.
