To paraphrase what Kerouac says in the first stanza of the “195th Chorus” his poetry is raw and unrefined (to those with a conventional mind set) but underneath there is still something of literary value. However, understanding Mexico City Blues can be extremely difficult. he does not need direction since he roams at his own discretion. The final stanza of this poetic jam brings everything together. It reveals that the “lowdown junky” is William S. Burroughs and that his "time-space travel ship" (opium) allowed him to be an "explorer of souls and cities." The stanza then goes on to offer some of Burroughs' “show” that was so good people would give up a good movie just to hear it.
