Journal When I watched the film versions of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby, I noticed the two films put costume design and art direction above the detailing of the characters. The guests were acting more sober and classy than I expected. The home was also furnished nicely whereas I was expecting the bare essentials to be in the house, with tattered and torn furniture. Overall, I don’t believe any movie could produce the same impressive feeling as one would get from actually reading Fitzgerald’s work.
