Gettysburg
Many bloody battles have been won and lost in this country. One of them was the battle of Gettysburg. Many were killed and wounded defending their beliefs and many lost hopes. Then Abraham Lincoln wrote one of the most beautiful pieces of writing to commemorate and thank the perished soldiers and to motivate and inspire the remaining.

By using metaphors, great word choice, repetition, clauses, and parallelism he covers all aspects that needed to be covered. He consoles the family, mentions the problem at hand, and motivates the many remaining and gives hope for the future. He did a great job of giving respect to the dead and adding fire to the once dying flames in the hearts of everyone. His speech was exactly what the people needed to hear.
