Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was one of the most influential spiritual and political leaders of the twentieth century. Throughout history most national heroes have been warriors, but Gandhi was different. Gandhi helped free the Indian people from British rule through nonviolent resistance, and is honored by his people as the father of the Indian Nation. He taught many people about equal rights and peace. Although at times his actions were deemed improbable, nevertheless, they were effective.

Gandhi set out to gain basic rights for the Indians, and accomplished it. The idea that one man can rally together 350 million Indians is in itself incredible. There are so many things that you can say about such a wonderful, selfless man like Gandhi who helped give the Indian people a voice.
