The humans were fearful when the flood started and the gds were fearful of what they realized they had done “Even the gods were terrified at the flood, they fled to the highest heaven…they crouched against walls, cowering like curs” (Gilgamesh 540).
The Epic of Gilgamesh shows that humans and gods must work together in order for a balance to remain. Without this balance both sides would be lost.
