Throughout the years one has been searching for who they are, their identity. In both novels The Bondwoman’s Narrative by Hannah Crafts and The Awakening by Kate Chopin both Crafts and Mrs. Pontiteller were looking for who they were. Religion, society, and friends played a major role in search for their identity.
