The play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare is mainly based around the assassination of Julius Caesar. The character in charge of the assassination was the play’s tragic hero, Marcus Brutus. Brutus was a highly respected figure in Rome. He was a loyal follower and devout friend to Caesar. This seems kind of ironic because why would someone murder one of his good friends. his actions and everything he says. You never find out whether Brutus was correct in his assumptions about Caesar, but that wasn’t the point of the play. Aside from the political aspects and intrigue contained in the story, I think that Shakespeare was exploring the question as to whether good can ever result from evil. Even if the evil is done with the purest intentions and motives, can the ends ever justify the means?
