When choosing an exotic animal, my first thought was to choose something dangerous. After thinking, I remembered dendroaspis polyepsis. The black mamba is not only a beautiful creature, it is dangerous, exciting, and utterly fascinating.

Of all the snakes in Africa, it has been said that the Mamba is the most feared, and justifiably so. The only truly negative quality about mambas is human ignorance. The mamba is an aggressive creature and it is rightfully feared, as it is lethal. However, the mamba is not a natural predator to man and we should not be to it. (Chad H. Mummert)
