I view the Berlin Crisis of 1961 from the revisionist perspective. The mass emigration into West Germany was an awful predicament for Kruschev and the Soviets. Kruschev’s ultimatum in 1959 was met by stubborn and cocky refusal by the Allies. The building of the Berlin Wall was a bold reaction, but a necessary one.
