He vividly depicts the cruel beatings and murder of these “delicate people” by the Spanish Christians, while probably withholding possible reasons behind them. It is more then likely that Las Casas only showed the genial side of the natives so that the Spaniards brutality would be more easily recognizable to the uneducated people back home in Spain and in the rest of Europe.
