Bartleby’s problem effects everyone around him, he is causing people to give their time up to try and approach him, to try and address the situation that he has brought into their lives. It is Bartleby’s decision to live his live as a hermit, and he has the right to that decision, yet since he is in a busy society he is letting that decision bring other people down.
