Our country has become increasingly concerned with the needs of its disabled and elderly citizens. The Congress passed the ADA (American’s with Disabilities Act) to provide equal access to public buildings by the handicapped. In addition, all buildings are required to provide special parking stalls, ramps, and bathrooms for these people. My Grandfather, despite his limited mobility, enjoyed his family visit in New Jersey. It would have been much easier on my mother, however, with the simple convenience of a handicapped parking permit. It is sad that a privilege, which has been granted by the government, winds up being to difficult too obtain.
