No one wanted to be there; it was a place where starvation, gangrene, corpse eating rats, flame-throwers, gas shells, and finally, death were commonplace. Erich Maria Remarque elaborately revealed this in the book “All Quiet On The Western Front”. Hell may have a few small differences to the war, such as less fire and no red man with a pitchfork but other then that, World War One was hell.

their empowerment needs weren’t being met. Had they been promoted in their ranks or Himmelstoss had used his need positively instead of so negatively, it wouldn’t have happened.
There is no way to bring out in words the suffering of World War 1. Even Remarque’s book couldn’t possibly bring you to comprehend all of the levels of torment that were going on. In conclusion, World War One was Hell if not worse.
